  2. I got this writer probably from the same place as you SVP communications ?
When it was fitted it wouldn't read cd-r's so I got in touch with them and they arranged a swap straight away. In the mean time it decided not to read DVD either so it wasn't a great start.
The new one arrived by courier and so far (2 weeks) I have had no problems at all. Using the media which came free with it (Nan-ya) I have managed to back up several DVD with great results. Also no problems burning to cd-r now. Full marks to SVP for their after care service

  3. I got one from SVP too...it read CDs OK but wouldnt recognise blank Yellow Datawrites at all nor my oficial Panaasonic DVD-RAM discs !..I had a replacement but this too seemed VERY picky about the types of media, it certainly was a lot worse than my 104 so i sent it back n got a refund...a pity coz it seemed like a good writer n good reviews but I had no joy with it at all.

  4. Maybe my 1st one was the one you sent back
Bought Vob instant cd/dvd and the drive was not recognised until I changed the driver in the programme itself and Prassi Primo wouldn't even recognise it.
As well as Nan-Ya I have tried Datawrite Classic and they both worked fine but that's all I have tried so far.
