I have been using Scenalyzer Live to capture some old Beta tapes, and converting to DVDs.
1. Info on problem first:
I downloaded the Media Studio Trial, in order to test capturing direct to MPEG, (as opposed to converting with TMPGENC).
After installing and trying to capture, of course, first thing was failure, (which is where I'm at now.)
It gives me the error "DV Video Driver cannot capture to MPEG".
I have Windows XP. Capturing by passing analog through a Sony DCR TRV-530. The Sony is feeding through a Texas Instruments 1394 card.
What do I need to do to capture to Mpeg? I was surprised by this error.
2nd Question: My goal is for good quality pictures on DVD. (I'm using DVD Workshop to make the DVDs) I am currently converting via TMPGENC at 7000 rate. Will the quality of direct capture to MPEG2 via Media Studio Pro be of the same quality?
Lastly, I guess I should ask: If I end up capturing to MPEG, will I regret that when I go to editing in Premier? Some reading I do here implies that editing is painful with MPEGS.
Thanks for your responses.
