  1. I've been trying to burn a VCD using an old HP CdWriter 7500 to see if I can get rid of pixelation problems I've been having with a newer burner.

Problem is, Nero and VCD easy seem to work ok until the end (100%) where both programs just spin the cd endlessly and never give a "write completed" message. Also if I try to eject the CD nothing happens and I have to shutdown my computer. Any ideas anyone?

    TIA

  3. vcdeasy has a tool to eject in the case your talking about to force the disk to eject.
under tools > cdrdao > unlock cd writer > click unlock
this will kick out the disk with out rebooting.
    vcdeasy is avalible here
    http://www.vcdeasy.org/modules.php?name=_Downloads its a free program
how ever i am with the above post your disk will probaly not be usable.
    .............
is this the same thing that happened on your other box?
if so its probaly the burner.
try reinstalling the software, but you probaly done that if you switched boxs.
ask a friend to use there burner and make sure its not a problem with the box.

I've been having the same problem with Nero in a totaly different scenario. However the similarity of the problem is tempting...

For no apparent reason (perhaps a change in the batch of media), Nero 5.5.10.7b started to behave in the same way while recording TDK DVDs on the SONY DRU500A. Would never go on to do a verify and I had to shutdown the PC to unlock the drive. The disk apparently was recorded OK.

It is perhaps a problem within Nero, to be unable to receive the whatever end of recording signal the recorder generates. I'm saying this because I've been using RecordNow since then and never had the same problem. Tried once more to record a TDK DVD with Nero and had the same problem again.

    Try a different recording program.
The more I learn, the more I come to realize how little it is I know.

    Bad disc or writer.
I'm not online anymore. Ask BALDRICK, LORDSMURF or SATSTORM for help. PM's are ignored.

  6. Thanks to all who replied - problem solved. I decided to go ahead and switch the IDE to PIO instead of DMA in the Device Manager and it worked.
