  1. I have a few questions regarding this software. Both DVD's in question are DVD-9's.......

    1) When ripping in file mode with DVD-Decrypter then launching DVD-2-One, how do you know what VTS to process??? For instance, Pulp Fiction has 3 VTS that have the same running time and 2 of the 3 have the same number of chapters. I'd assume one would be for wide screen and one would be standard screen, but there is no standard screen on the original, its all wide screen. So my question is, how do you know which one to process? Which brings me to my next question....

    2) When backing up Ghostbusters, I made an error which was not known untill the finished burned dvd was done. What I processed and burned was the directors comments throughout the entire movie. I've read and I understand the tutorial on this program (rip the entire movie in file mode, etc etc..) Why can't you just rip the main movie VTS which DVD-Decrypter selects by default anyways, then process that with DVD-2-One???? Why do you need to rip the entire movie if the whole reason for DVD-2-One is to eliminate all the BS and just keep the main movie??

Go to the top of DVD Decrypter, click on mode. Select IFO I. This will give you just the movie. Then use DVD2One to compress. That is if it is a Dual layered disc. I always pop my disc in click mode, ISO Read which will tell you if its single or dual layered. If its single, start in ISO Read if you want the entire movie. It makes an image file. Once completed click on ISO Write, navigate to where you burned the image file in the first step. Then burn to your disk. Yes you can do this using just DVD Decrypter. However if you want just the movie or if its a dual layered disc then you'll need to use IFO mode and DVD2One. The guides that knowledgable folks on the site have written are perfect. Just follow them you can't go wrong! Not trying to re-invent the wheel here. Just trying to help. This is a great site!

Sorry, Just to answer one more question you had. DVD2One does not eliminate stuff per say. The mode in which you use the decrypter does that part. DVD2One is a compresser. To get it down to the size that will fit on the disc. Also sometimes my computers DVD player, Power DVD will sometimes default to the directors cut (audio). You can choose between different audio streams if they are on the disc. When in doubt always take it to your set top DVD player.

To eliminate streams AND reencode AND rip == all in the same package == I'd suggest DVDshrink. I've gotten good results with it. Not too shabby at all, and the price is right: free. Just use Nero or another burning program to burn (I'd suggest DVDIt! personally or RecordNow Max from what others say, instead of Nero).
I'm not online anymore. Ask BALDRICK, LORDSMURF or SATSTORM for help. PM's are ignored.

  5. I agree, this is by far the most helpful site about DVD's around.

I also check the layers to see if its a *5 or a *9.

I have aslo burnt many successful discs with DVD-2-One & Instant Copy. But lately with DVD-2-One, I have the problems stated in my first post.

Such as knowing what title to process with DVD-2-One when there are mutiple titles with the same running time/chapters. (without wasting a blank on the wrong title.) And, if you can just rip the main movie with DVD-Decrypter, then process with DVD-2-One. (Instead of ripping the entire movie, then using DVD-2-One, like the guide suggests.) That way there will be no guess work on what title to process, like my case with Pulp Fiction when there are 3 titles with the same running time.[/list]
