  1. Hello all, I am new to this exciting forum. I was wondering if anyone can help me with the following problem. I have recently purchased the Ulead Dvd Movie Factory 2.0, when i try to install it i keep getting this error message:

setup has caused an error in SETUP.EXE. Setup will now close. If you
continue to experience problems, try restarting your computer.

I have restarted but it still gives me this error message. I have turned off all programs that are running in the background including my virus scan.

However, I was able to install it onto my Dell PII 400mhz without a hitch. But the Dell doesn't have the dvd burner installed on it. I have the previous version of dvd movie factory and that one works without any problems whatsoever, installed on my VAIO. I have also uninstalled the earlier version of dvd moviefactory. My sony Pc seems to not like this software for some reason.

I am running a Sony PCV-RX490TV Vaio PC with Windows ME, 384 MB of RAM, 80gb Hard DRive, 4x AGP 3D graphics Hardware Acceleration (Nvidia Geforce 2 MX)

I had contacted tech support and they were of no help to me whatsoever. I have tried to find any postings on this problem, but no one seems to have any installation problems that I am experincing. Thank you for your help.

Sounds like something has become corrupted on your Operating System. I never had ME on my systems, but worked on a lot of computers that did. Not a big fan. If someone can't specifically navigate you to fixing the issue, your best route will be to to a clean install of ME. You should then be void of any problems for at least a while. Good luck.

  3. yeah, i guess it's sometimes good to clean out the hard drive. but b4 i do that i think i will install it onto my external hard drive from another PC with windows ME and then see if it would work on my system. Thanks for the advice.

  4. i installed the moviefactory 2.0 onto my external hard drive from another PC. I clicked on it and now it gives me this error message:

    Load MPEG Vio Driver Error
    c:\windows\allusers\Application Data\Ulead Systems\Ulead Dvd Moviefactory\2.01\DVDMF.ini

any ideas on what this means? is there a solution to this problem? it worked when I ran it from the other PC--not my PC, but when I hooked back up my external hard drive to my PC, it doesn't work...damn.

  5. I have done a complete system recovery of my PC. and reinstalled all of my stuff including dvd factory 2.0, and now i am able to install it. But i haven't tested it out yet. Gotta love those System Recovery CD's...it can save your life.
