DVD Multisession only really supported in the burner it was made in.
I'm not online anymore. Ask BALDRICK, LORDSMURF or SATSTORM for help. PM's are ignored.

  5. The LTD-165 will but the 163 is to old and would need a FW upgrade. DVD+RW multisession is different the +R multisession. With +R a Lead-in and Lead-out has to be written for each session. For +RW the Lead-out is essentially overwritten on the next session so to a normal DVD-ROM drive the data area will look like DVD-ROM data with one Lead-in and one Lead-out.

my FW is GH5K (mar 2002 not too old)
please can you tell me what FW upgrade I need: in this site I have found a lot http://www.firmware-flash.com/~digi/163fw.h
when I make the upgrade I need only to restart my pc or even to reboot?
do you think I need to upgrade even my dvd burner?
    best regards

  7. It could be that Liteon never did a FW change to support Multi-session +R.
There is nothing that can be done with your Burner. BTW, you must use WINXP or Win2K since there is no support for Multi-session +R or Multi-border -R in Win98 or WinME.

  9. No this is not true. Multi-session is possible with +R but you must have a DVD-ROM drive that will support recognition of the session pointers that are on the disk and you must also must have an OS(XP or Win2K) that will recognize the file system. I have written many multi-session DVD+R disks. I find that Most of the DVD-ROM drives on the market do not support the recognition of multi-session +R. Most computer companies do not want to add this support to their shipping DVD drives because their old drives do not have support and thus the customer confusion. The key is if you can see the additional sessions when the disk is in your DVD+R writer then you should be able to see the same sessions in your DVD-ROM if the drive FW supports it.
Some of the drives that work are HLDS - GDR-8160(16X DVD), Samsung SD-616T and Toshiba M1612.
