  1. I have posted recently about upgrading to a better capture card probably ADVC-100. I currently have a gainward g-force4 with built in capture. I am capturing from my VCR thru RCA cables then from RCA to S-video converter since my VI is S-video. I have used virtual dup and neo dvd plus to capture. And on both the capture video is always in black and white. Why am I not getting any color? Is it my card. If I upgrade to the ADVC-100 will that solve this problem. I have been told that g-force4 boards are bad to capture with. any suggestions? thankx

Are you sure you are capturing in the correct format (i.e. PAL or NTSC)?
    Hello.

Getting a black and white image is usually related to some sort of NTSC/PAL signal mismatch. I suggest you try to set all your hardware and capture software manually to the proper standard. Frequently hardware and/or software has autodetect settings that get messed up.

I have it set in NEODVD to NTSC. As for the hardware setting I am not sure where that is. Are you talking about in the device manager if so I didn't see anything under the capture card setting unless I am missing something.

You need to set it to "U.S. (NTSC)" or the result will be borked. This is done in the pull down menu located in the upper right of the capture screen labeled as "Viewable In". Open the pull down menu and all the way near the bottom of the list (forth from the bottom) you will see it.

  7. When I first got my card I used the scart (on VCR) to svideo on my capture card.It would only capture in B\W.The man in the pc shop said I needed to use the composite input on my card as some scarts are not svideo compliant.so Maybe it is your vcr to capture connection that is the prob????

I had the same problem when I tried to use the S-VHS port and could capture in color when I used composite instead. :P
