  1. hello to everybody on this forum.
The reason why i registrated here is for hoping to find some answers.
Because im new in this "department" i post it here but maybe it belongs somewehere else, sorry for that then!!
O.k. Got the taste of downloading movies from the internet and make myself a nice collection.
O.k after downloading the first movie in format avi
I read here and there and i came to the conclusion of by using virtual dub
    to cut it in two.
opening the avi file and then in video choose direct stream copy ok.
a message comes up about vbr audio but it sais it will fix it so its ok then
cut it in two or in three or ..
then ive read i should encode it with tmpenc. but untill now 4th movie never used it ..Is it to optimize quality...
Straight from virtual dub i used ner0 5.x.x.x to burn it (it encodes the file first ...then it burns (on my pentium 3 i gh takes about 2 - 3 hrs)
When it finished i tried it straight away ...it came out upside down(hehe)
    It couldnīt be that easy..
Read here and there about uninstalling the nimo codec and then installing it again but donīt choose some filters.
Another solution i read was ..just take nerovision express and thats it..
    O.k. so i did burned it again....perfect
Secnd film as it came in was in divx ..so installed the codec and opened virtual dub.
Cutted it in two (selecting always direct stream copy) save as avi and then into nerovision express and 2-3 hours later .....perfect
But the next film i did ...the second part the sound is ahead of the frames.
But the first part was fine...
MY FIRST QUESTION IS WHY IS THAT....
Should i repair it or virtual dub made a mistake or the film is like that.
Should i extract the sound...(read here and there about this)
Or encode it in tmpenc but then with nero it will encode again,no!! or can i encode it with tmpenc and is there some kind of option to disable this transcoding-encoding that nero does..
wauw i see i typed quite a few ..Lets see somebody can make my day a bit better...

You can leave your files in Avi format if you want. VCD/SVCD/DVD are for people who want to play movies on their standalone players in the comfort of their living rooms. If you don't, then don't convert.

Don't use Nero to convert to mpeg, it's poor quality. TMPGEnc is much better. Nero can be used to burn to disk once the conversion is done (Yes, you can turn of the conversion option).

    Here's the basic process:

    1. Scan and remove bad frames(bad frames cause sync problems) with Vdub, use Vdub-MP3 if you get a VBR warning (like you got).

    2. Strip a wav file to use as the audio source (Vdub).

    3. Encode your mpeg into your selected format (using TMPGEnc).

    4. Burn to disk.

There are lots of guides which will give much more detail than I can. Check the Convert section or search the Guides and Forum sections.

  3. thnks..
    understand more now!!
And yes like to covert it to vcd svcd or xvcd going for the last one now knowing my dvdplayer supports it..
Only one thing that worries me is the audio...
Is it the best ALWAYS extract the audio to wav (with vd)
Or can i leave it for now(exception ac3 or oogdl o something).
Only one question more on my yourney to success.
How is it possible after cutting in two the film the first part is good and the second part is wrong(spoken language is ahead of the image)
    How can you explain that..
Anyway from now on tmpgenc to encode then nero just to burn the ****(hehe)..

Yes, it's always best to extract the wav, it helps avoid sync problems. Load your Avi in Vdub, Audio- full processing mode, compression- no compression, conversion- 44.1 KHz (VCD), save wav. If you have AC3 Audio or VBR audio you can use Goldwave, load your avi, save.

Don't cut your Avi, use the source range function in TMPGEnc to select which part to encode, then use the batch encode to do the whole movie. Less problems, less hassle.

Don't forget remove bad frames first of all! Bad frames cause all kinds of problems when converting and they need to be removed using Virtualdub or Virtualdub-MP3. Vdub-MP3 is used if you get a VBR pop-up warning when opening your file in regular Vdub.

    Good luck! 8)
