  1. I am trying to capture from VHS with pro-logic using a Winfast 200xp capture card and burn to S/VCD and retain the surround sound for playback on my stand-alone player (Pioneer DV-355)

I have noticed that both formats support this but in my many hours of searching the net, I have not found even the slightest of hints or how tos!

If this is possible, can someone please help or point me in the right direction?

    Tnx,

  2. I think it is possible to have surround sound from a svcd/vcd......afew years back when i burnt svcd/vcd's from a dvd source but not vhs,as you know both formats can contain surround sound audio......when i burnt the svcd/vcd's i made sure that i kept the audio in true stereo format,,,this way mate your surround sound tv/dvd or amplifier did the rest and converted it into a good quality surroung sound output........i hope this helps.

Prologic is a DECODING method. All you need to do to get prologic output is to encode in standard stereo. Pretty much any possible method you could use to encode/author a (S)VCD will allow you to retain the stereo signal.

For those people who only have Dolby Surround capable hardware, you have to encode the stereo audio a certain way. If the source is already Dolby Surround, you are fine. If the the source is 5.1 then you can do a surround sound downmix, and again all the conventional (S)VCD creation methods will allow you to do this.

  4. It works, hurray......

I think my biggest problem was that I was Tuning my TV capture card into my VCR resulting in too much loss of audio.

After constructing the correct leads and using the PCM audio Codec it gave no hastles.

    Thanks for your input guys,

    Have to go,
