How to burn Avi with nero without converting it

I like to burn my movies , but I don’t know how to burn AVI files ? I use nero and I can quite easily make VCDs with any mpeg1 , What I do is d/l the film if I get it in Avi format I use tmpgenc to split and convert the avi or divx file into 2 so I can then put them on 2 cds , but I want to be able to put them on one cd and I just cant work out what to do , ive read a lot of postings on dvd help but nothing as yet to solve my problem , If I use Nero to convert the avi file? When its finished its not in sync ,and if I convert a full 700mb avi in tmpgenc it makes it too large a file to get on one cd , So I,m wondering if there is an easy or a hard solution to solve this ???
