Hi, at the moment im using video studio 6, and when i convert to vcd or svcd or cvd sometimes the video hasnt got a smooth motion. Does this have anything to do with the field order setting? for example i converted a divx to mpeg2(PAL), field order A, cbr 2050, max quality and the movie was sometimes jumpy(that is, not smooth) throughout.
Also what is the best for converting to PAL vcd, svcd etc. frame-based, field order A or F order B?
    Thanks for any help.

Try to stick to the same TV system as the source: NTSC in, NTSC out, if your DVD player/TV can handle it. By far the least problems. If you must do TV system conversions, there are lots of guides, but none really simple pointandclick for every possibility.

Is the DivX source PAL also? If not then convert to NTSC/NTSCFilm, it is always best to convert to same format as the source.

The field order does not matter if the source is non-interlace(progressive) (divx's are usually non-interlace).

ok, so if i choose svcd and i choose frame-based(the default is Field order A) it makes no diff. to the quality of the output?
I also noticed when i encode to vcd field order A(only mpeg1), then say, i cut abit out of the movie then save again using same settings it would take about half the time of the movie duration, no matter how much times i create an output. But with frame-based after the first save it creates an output in a few minutes.
With mpeg2 creating another output with the same settings(whether Field order A or frame-based) finishes in a few minutes.
Thats why i wanted to know if there is a difference between them because the default for mpeg(pal) is frme-based and mpeg2(pal) field order A?
    thanks for any replies.
