  1. i want to back up a dvd9 to a dvd5. i will be using dvdDecriptor to rip, dvd2one to reEncode, and copyToDVD to burn. my question is this...

I want to get the best video quality as possible, so i am willing to lose the subtitles, extras, menus, ect. when using dvd2one, at a certian point it ask what audio track to keep or remove(2ch, 6ch, english, french, ect). Being i want the best video i was thinking of only keeping the 6ch english. then i starting thinking how this would affect the playback if it were played back without surround sound(only 2 speakers). i want the 6ch for home, but here at school, i only use the 2 speakers on the tv. by keeping only the 6ch english track, will i lose some, if any 'sound' while playing it back in stereo?

if this doesnt make sense please ask me to clearify some parts and i will, i reall yneed help in this, im not a expert on surround sound and how it works.

    thanks guys/girls

  2. If you only have 2 speakers it will downmix to 2 speakers. If you have surround sound, it will be surrond sound. No sound is lost either way. Just better when its spread out on 6 speakers.

  3. might as well keep the 6 ch if you go with the 2 ch you will only be saving like 300 megs. really won't affect the quality since you are using dvds.

  4. ok i understand that, then can you explain why they put a 6ch and 2ch on the dvd?

just to verify, i made a good decison by keeping the 6ch. it will play fine(hear everything) when playing back with only 2 speakers?
