I did a SVCD conversion ofStuart Little 2. During playback of the SVCD sync goes out very slowly. At a point playback pauses then resumes with the sync corrected.
I uses DVD2AVI v.1.77.3 to convert the audio into a wav.
This is the first time I've experienced this in the 20 DVD movies I've done.
I did see it in a music video DVD but I never found a fix.
If it was a constant sync problem I could change the audio delay in TMPGE.
Ideas?
Thanks

Are both files the same length? I've been known to cheat and just lengthen the audio by 1 sec (overall, makes no difference) to fix sync issues. There are better ways to do it, but this one works fine too.
It could also be the disc or player. Lots of reasons. Hopefully you'll get more posts soon. Not a problem I get often.
Audio editing done in SoundForge 6 -
The sync starts out fine. After about 5mins (when the soccer game starts in Stuart Little 2) the audio starts lagging. after a few mins the video pauses then continues but with the audio back in sync.
It does this several times thru the disc.
Because it's not constant sync error I can't just add or remove time on the audio track.
As with most sync problems the SVCD plays fine on the PC. My standalone is a Philips DVD718.
When I use the chapter button to get to a point where the sync was previously out and play it from there, the sync is fine.
My original encode to the disc was at a video bitrate of 2520.
I just re-encoded the first 10mins at 2300 instead and it has played fine.
Perhaps my standalone can't handle SVCD's at max bitrate. Possible ? -
I have the same problems with my PHILIPS SA DVD player when playing SVCD's at max. bitrate. Not just audio sync problems but also freezing during playback. Using a max. bitrate of 2200 (in my case) solves these problems.
Also TMPGenc mpeg tools (merging of SVCD files) are known to give audio sync problems. Use the avisynth dissolve function instead. No audio sync problems anymore after applying this.

I reencoded the whole movie at 2450 and playback is fine.
Something strange about Philips players obviously. At least it plays SVCDs.
The problem hasn't shown up in previous movies because the movie was too long to have max bitrate.
I noticed that just prior to the sync going out, the picture went a bit fuzzy from movement andthe audio had a click or two.
Very strange thing though, my 2520 encodes of AVI captured from my Camcorder don't have any sync issues.
