    Hi
I'm new to this program having previously used TMPGenc.
Could experienced users of this program please post some of their TWEAK settings for improving the output from this program.
Or does leaving it on default settings produce good enough results??

    Cheers

I am using the mpegXS converter for EditStudio. It is based on the MainConcept engine. I am perfectly happy with the quality and file size that it gives. The only change that I normally make is to change the GOP so that there are 12 "frames" between the "I" frames. So the order looks like this:

    bbIbbpbbpbbpbbIbb.........
Hope is the trap the world sets for you every night when you go to sleep and the only reason you have to get up in the morning is the hope that this day, things will get better... But they never do, do they?

I'd highly recommend that you go to the mainconcept web site. In the forums there, is a list of teaking options, although the more I use it, the less tweaking I do.

I find default settings blurry in MC.
I'm not online anymore. Ask BALDRICK, LORDSMURF or SATSTORM for help. PM's are ignored.

Go here http://www.adobeforums.com/cgi-bin/webx?13@170.KPASaitGLql.0@.1de544a8 to get the most info on a great encoder. I just use CBR- 8000 kbps with the quality slider @ 50

What this site needs is a REALLY GOOD and REALLY IN-DEPTH guide. Not something for the newbies. Forget them. What I'd like to see are tweaks and explanations of all the various settings. I know quite a bit about video, but some of the MainConcept stuff gives me a headache.

I can manage just fine, but I'm betting I could do more with it, given the knowledge. Adobe sucks at helping too. That forum was mainly newbie-style questions and bug reports.

    txpharoah,

This is why I feel no one can say that there is a "BEST" encoder.
Txpharoah, I have looked at thirty or so videos conded from MC and never saw anything blurry and haven't heard of that as an issue. People have different sensitivities. That one is new. Also, the forum is meant for questions that ANYONE has, it is just that I really don't understand the level of perfection that yu are after. What I would recommend is the call MC tech support, the phone number is listed there, or on the forum, click on members. What is cool is that you can direct e-mail the support peole and creators of the product.

    racer-x,
You are using MainConcept, I forget to say that MainConcept makes the encoder for Adobe. What is called the "Abobe Encoder" is Mainconcept.

Mainconcept for the most part has been making technology that has been imbedded in a lot of profesional grade products, the selling direct to customers is rather new to them
