  1. Hello. Newbie here. Have used DVD Decrypter 3.1.4.0 to copy a single layer 4.47Gb (this info fro DVD Decrypter) disc to hard drive and has worked fine. When trying to burn to a DVD RW though, it gets to 99% complete and the timer gets to zero and it just sticks there for ever. I tried it on a DVDR also which I had to bin. Anyone had similar or know what could be the cause?

Is it that although a single layer, it is too big (have seen stuff about 4.37 Gb is the 'actual' amount you can copy onto a single disc.

    Thanks

  2. How long is it "sticking" for? Your burner could just be writing the leadout of the disc. Wherein it is no longer writing your data so to speak (i.e. the zero counter) but still has to write the lead out (i.e. the "99%"). This is only a guess as I have never written to a disc using DVD Decrypter.

As for the 4.47 to 4.37 is unimportant. DVD-R is essentially DVD-5 which it sounds like your disc is, 4.37 is only a safeguard type spec, after all DVD-R are marked as 4.7 GB

    Hope this helps

That is the same question I was going to ask, HOW LONG IS FOREVER. Because when I burn with Nero the point from 99% to 100% to actually being complete is about 3 or 4 minutes.

  4. I have burned many DVD-RW/-Rs with my Sony DRU500a (1.0f) using both Nero and DVD Decrypter. Like was stated in a previous post, these programs need to "lead-out" or "close" the disc in order to make it compatible with many stand-alone players.

Often my actual data burning takes only a fraction of the total time; the lead-out (and lead-in as well) can take many long minutes to finish. My advice, if you have not tried it yet, is to start a burn with either program and leave the room. Go have a cup of coffee, or a beer. Read the newspaper. Call your mother. Enjoy the weather outside. Above all, be patient. Most likely your discs will pop out ok when you get back.

If it really never does finish (like, say, after more than a half-hour after hitting 99-100%), then you have a real problem. Good luck.

  5. When I say forever, I actually left is for a couple of hours and it was still at 99%. It took about 20 mins to get to that point in the first place.

Would people suggest burning using something else instead of DVD decrypter?

I've got Roxio or Veritas Record Now. Will they work on DVD's? Also got the HP dvd writer software that came with the drive.
