Anyone know a good online dealer or retail store to purchase the ADVC-100 for a decent price.

    THANKS IN ADVANCE,

    Slick Rick,
Sorry, but the model # on mine is DCR-TRV140, I must have the one at the bottom of the chain, I bought it for about $500 at BestBuy about a year ago.
Too bad, as the TRV140 does not have the pass-through feature. Also, the price you paid -- ouch! I paid about that much for my 740 about 3 months ago!

Here's an idea: Sell your 140 on eBay and pick-up a 340/740/840 camcorder. 8) You'll benefit with some of the nicer features of a higher-end camcorder (night-shot is pretty cool, and you can take pics), and the difference in cost might be better than purchasing an ADVC-100. I believe the new TRV-350 also has the pass-through feature, but you will probably get a better price on the '40s models.

Good luck -- I know I had a lot of fun (and still) figuring this out...

If you get an ATI AIW card, and want to convert VHS to DVD, you can use the guide below. You'll surely be pleased with the results.
I'm not online anymore. Ask BALDRICK, LORDSMURF or SATSTORM for help. PM's are ignored.

  6. Hey Slick!

Whatever you do, avoid the Pinnacle AV/DV card that comes with Pinnacle Studio 8 Deluxe. Aside from the fact that it is expensive, it captures analog video using a pure DV format ONLY. Which means that a 2 hour video will set you back over 30GB of disk space, that's just before you do any editing.

I think Pinnacle has another card called something like AVPC.. you may want to check into that.
    Peace..Peace
