I am using various programs to produce DVD's (TMPenc, DVD Workshop, DVD2AVI, DVD2one, and DVDxcopy, Windvr/Producer, among others). Just recently, when I have encoded video, either from a DVD, or even from TV- I get a small "boxlike" icon (it has 9 white tiny boxes, like a tic-tac-toe grid, uper right box has a check mark in it) that dances around the video portion of the screen.
At first, I figured it was related to a trial ware program (I used DVD2One and DVD2avi trials), but even when I am not using one of those programs, I get the box.
It must be something now embedded in my Windows 2000 codecs or --???
Please help me figure this out, it's driving me nuts!
Thanks

It sounds like the elecard mpeg2 codec , http://www.elecard.com/products/mpeg2decoder.shtml . Uninstall it and you should get rid of that.

Thanks for the reply- I do, in fact have Elecard player installed. I will uninstall and try this evening - hopefully that will solve it, I'll advise if not.
thanks again -
Doesn't the dancing tic-tac-doe grid go away if you license the product ?
The Elecard MPEG-2 codec works really well for me.
Do you have any other recommendations. ?

I deleted Elecard, and my problems were solved. Thanks.
I do like Elecard, it is a very good program, but my version was just a trial, so that's where my problems arose. I may purchase the licensed version later on. -
I did.
I find it extremely reliable. Makes all SVCD processing very reliable.
