Hi guys, let's take this situation and for the sake of argument let's disregard other factors that coulde cause the synch out: if the analog video from the source machine is passed thru several other machines on the way to the capture card, and the analog audio is connected directly from the same source machine to the same capture card, bypassing everything else the video is being passed thru, there should be by itself a certain ms lag in the final A/V synch, or not? Let's say on a 3 hrs video.

It will not be noticeable, but it's there, TBC's and signal stablizers use digital memory buffers that store one field or a whole frame and digitally apply the correction and convert the frame back to analog which creates a delay, The reason why some TBC's have audio inputs and outputs is to correct for that delay.

Thanks. Do you have any idea what the lag would be like, sth like 10 ms?

It depends on the device. Pure analog devices will be ns to us. A full frame TBC will be on the order of 1/framerate.
