Dear All
Please help me to get exact same feature of the Video source after hardsub.
I use handbrake (profile:fast1080p 30), but I may use anything else if better results.
It just I get really shitty in compare to the source
the media file info of the source as below
I usually encode the video and remux the original audio for better sound resultsCode:General Unique ID : 101640387152434000061554667773810576619 (0x4C7739FD0EAD3D8D819EAEA91F2A0CEB) Complete name : D:\XXX.mkv Format : Matroska Format version : Version 4 File size : 1.01 GiB Duration : 23 min 40 s Overall bit rate : 6 089 kb/s Encoded date : UTC 2019-04-30 09:52:29 Writing application : mkvmerge v32.0.0 ('Astral Progressions') 64-bit Writing library : libebml v1.3.7 + libmatroska v1.5.0 Video ID : 1 Format : AVC Format/Info : Advanced Video Codec Format profile : High@L4 Format settings : CABAC / 4 Ref Frames Format settings, CABAC : Yes Format settings, ReFrames : 4 frames Codec ID : V_MPEG4/ISO/AVC Duration : 23 min 39 s Bit rate : 5 959 kb/s Width : 1 920 pixels Height : 1 080 pixels Display aspect ratio : 16:9 Frame rate mode : Constant Frame rate : 23.976 (24000/1001) FPS Color space : YUV Chroma subsampling : 4:2:0 Bit depth : 8 bits Scan type : Progressive Bits/(Pixel*Frame) : 0.120 Stream size : 1 009 MiB (98%) Writing library : x264 core 142 Encoding settings : cabac=1 / ref=4 / deblock=1:1:1 / analyse=0x3:0x113 / me=umh / subme=8 / psy=1 / psy_rd=0.40:0.00 / mixed_ref=1 / me_range=16 / chroma_me=1 / trellis=1 / 8x8dct=1 / cqm=0 / deadzone=21,11 / fast_pskip=1 / chroma_qp_offset=-2 / threads=12 / lookahead_threads=2 / sliced_threads=0 / nr=0 / decimate=1 / interlaced=0 / bluray_compat=0 / constrained_intra=0 / bframes=3 / b_pyramid=2 / b_adapt=2 / b_bias=0 / direct=3 / weightb=1 / open_gop=0 / weightp=2 / keyint=9999999 / keyint_min=5000000 / scenecut=0 / intra_refresh=0 / rc_lookahead=50 / rc=crf / mbtree=1 / crf=15.0 / qcomp=0.60 / qpmin=0 / qpmax=69 / qpstep=4 / vbv_maxrate=8000 / vbv_bufsize=12000 / crf_max=0.0 / nal_hrd=none / filler=0 / ip_ratio=1.40 / aq=1:0.60 Default : Yes Forced : No Audio ID : 2 Format : AAC LC Format/Info : Advanced Audio Codec Low Complexity Codec ID : A_AAC-2 Duration : 23 min 40 s Bit rate : 128 kb/s Channel(s) : 2 channels Channel layout : L R Sampling rate : 44.1 kHz Frame rate : 43.066 FPS (1024 SPF) Compression mode : Lossy Delay relative to video : -83 ms Stream size : 21.7 MiB (2%) Language : Japanese Default : Yes Forced : No

Yes. You will still lose a little quality (quality gets worse every time you reencode with a lossy codec) but you probably won't notice it.

it is great thanks
but the size of the video becomes way high 65%
can I avoid the increment in sizing?Last edited by ghazalo; 4th May 2019 at 11:48.

Is this animated material? If so use tune=animation instead of film. Other settings that might effect the overall size are vbv_maxrate=8000 and vbv_bufsize=12000. Enter those in the Extra Options box as "vbv_maxrate=8000:vbv_bufsize=12000" without the quotes.
Other unusual setting are keyint=9999999 and keyint_min=5000000. I highly recommend against using those. You'll get a little more compression but the file will be very hard to random seek. But if you want to add those use "keyint=9999999:keyint_min=5000000" in the Extra Options box. Note that if you add those to the earlier list you need to add a colon (:) between them. Ie, every option needs to be separated by a colon. -
yes it is animation
I will try adding those and I changed the tune to animation
thanks
my friend advised me to use profile : Vimeo youtube HQ 1080P 60, what do you think about it ?
he says almost I get same source size and quality -
Since you're trying to match the size/quality of the existing file I don't think you want to start with a Web Optimized preset. I definitely wouldn't go with 60 fps. The source is 23.976 and should stay that way. Web Optimized (Summary tab) doesn't hurt (it puts the keyframe index near the start of the file rather than at the end, that makes it easier to play on-line). I'd start with General, HQ1080p30.

Truly. You will at present lose somewhat (quality deteriorates each time you reencode with a lossy codec) however you presumably won't see it. Dafont 192.168.l.l FileHippo

Is your original audio track encoded by aac? If your original audio is encoded by FLAC or ALAC, please don't re-encode it. FLAC and ALAC are the lossless audio formats, best for your sound results.
What's plus, you can properly adjust the audio bit rate from 128kbps to 192 or 256kbps. The same also applies to its sample rate. -

guys I have a new series with the following specs , the audio will be added from the original, all what I am looking for from this specs how I determine the handbrake :
1- encode perset
2-encode tune
3-encode profile
4-RF
I know the others such as (frame-rate , video codec) as it is available in the specs
or if there is a better encoder that take all original specs and add hardsub that's all

That's close to the veryslow preset. A list of preset settings I posted a long time ago:

No, a few of them are different. But you're wasting your time worrying about using the same settings. If you don't have playback restrictions (for example, Blu-ray players can't handle 16 reference frames) just use the slowest preset you can stand to wait for, with tuning appropriate for your source (animation, film, grain).

If you don't have playback restrictions then use h.264 10 bit. Or even better h.265 10 bit. Don't limit Profile or Level.
