Hey guys, I am running a live image of Ubuntu version 16.-4.3 off of a flash drive and have connected another flash drive with videos on it but are not opening in Ubuntu. I am getting error message:

Required plugin could not be found. Videos requires to install plugins to play files of the following types: AC-3 Decoder H.264 decoder

Any way or program to open these videos online somewhere please? I am seeing the videos with extensions .mkv and also .mp4

VLC media player works well with Ubuntu. It has it's own decoders and codecs, so should be nothing else to install. It does handle AC-3 and H.264.
But I have no idea how to add it to a live image.

Other members might, or you can go to the Ubuntu website: https://www.ubuntu.com/search?q=vlc+for+ubuntu

SMplayer has its own codec library included too and it has better performance, probably would work better runningoff a USB boot.

You should also install ubuntu-restricted-extras, ubuntu doesn't come with a lot of codec support by default, which is common in Linux.

Thx, sorry for the late response, I had inquired about all of this on the Ubuntu forum but was told the restricted extras would need to be installed on each restart. Sm player will not install.

I am trying to install VLC for Ubuntu here but not seeing the actual download?
