  1. VirusTotal.com reports (via McAfee-GW-Edition) that the FLVInputDriver.vdplugin, to be used under VirtualDub contains a virus or worm called

    Heuristic.BehavesLike.Win32.Obfuscated.H

    ..... sadly!

    Anyone got a solution?

Yeah, it's a false positive. I just submitted both the plugin pack from VH's Tools page and the archive for the FLV import plugin from moitah.net to virustotal, and both scans came up with nothing flagged.

Hopefully, this works the way I think it should...
    plugin pack
    flv plugin

If only one or two of the scanners on virustotal's list are flagging something within the file, chances are, it's a false positive.

  4. hmm, me scared, having gone through a painful episode with a virut32 worm, which not only infected ALL exes on my pc, but also prevented me from surfing to ALL the major antivirus sites and microsoft etc. I had to install LINUX to solve this AND use an IDE hdd as OS disk .... still.

    so ....

can someone show me how to compile the source, perhaps?

I'm not giving you a 100% guarantee that this would have worked, but for future reference you could have downloaded the Trinity Rescue Kit at http://trinityhome.org. It has some anti-virus tools on it. Basically you boot it (it runs Linux) and use the tools and hope they work. So may not have been strictly necessary to install Linux to fix your problem.

i actually looked at this trinity thing. Just after that, i decided on the Hirenboot cd thing. Trinity didn't work out for me one bit. And i installed ubuntu out of sheer fedded-upness.

    1. if you submit the pack, chances are that it's not gonna work as well as it should since it has to unpack stuff.
    2. you can not be sure it IS a false positive.

Post the link to the results.

How many out of how many are reporting it as a virus ?

You must have missed this thread....

    LOL!!

After looking at Ai Haibara links....
Yeah, either a false positive or it got infected after you downloaded it.

The present-day virus scanners have no problems whatsoever unzipping the common archive formats or unpacking (normally-) packed executables and scanning the files. If that's indeed the problem, most will usually throw a "couldn't unpack <filename>"-type of message.

Granted, someone could stop a scanner from being able to unpack the archive by password-protecting it, obfuscating it, etc. But that would likely stop regular people from being able to unpack it, normally - and the virus scanner would again throw an error message like the one above.

As for being sure it's a false positive: Yes, you can't be one hundred percent sure, but if only one or two out of VirusTotal's entire stable of scanners are flagging the file, for whatever reason... it's reasonable to guess it's a false positive. In that case, it doesn't hurt to go online and ask around to see if it is, indeed, a false positive.

    1. this doesn't have anything to do with mcafee being right or wrong on this.
    2. Everyone likes to bash big companies. I do too, but that ALSO DOES NOT mean they're wrong on this.

  13. Hello to everyone

I was updating my laptop scanned virtualdub 1.9 with virustotal and 3 scanners are showing it as a threat.

Virtualdub 2 file shows as a Trojan file?
    I have attached the screenshots.

Do the huffyuv and lags codec work on windows 11?

I have read some posts from members saying capture was not windows 11 friendly.

Do the drivers for hauppage live usb 2 and diamond VC 500 work on windows 11?

I've read you have to disable core isolation memory function, it also says disabling this feature makes your computer more open to malware and viruses?

Windows 10 is not updating anymore.
It's ok for offline use but not online.

as davexnet said.. 1.9.11 is outdated.

anyway.. 3 GENERIC warnings from 2 antivirus on dozens.. it's quite certainly a false positive.

Everyone here uses it for capture.
Capturing VHS is an outdated task.
The capture cards and drivers are outdated too.

It's safe to download as these are generic?

Yes, I know about the issue with drivers and capture cards..

"Pak Generic" usually refers to some patterns found in the executable that are not virus in themselves but that are used by some viruses to inject code in some cases, but most of the time you get this warning the executable is safe.

Since the majority of the antivirus didn't detect any menace.. I'm quite sure it's simply a false warning.

It has 15 years of history. Nothing malicious there.
The admin at this site would have pulled it 15 years ago if there was a threat
I've also seen that version recommended by some for capture.
You could also try Amarectv as an alternative

Windows 10 has a further year of updates under the Extended Security Updates program

    Please see my screenshots.

I had it on my old PC with no issues but I was just making sure it was safe?
It's 15 years old no software should be showing it as malicious right?

What would you say about handbrake?
How safe is that? I'm using hybrid which is differently safe
X264 shows as.a virus on avast, this is what one of the reviews here says

I want to get used to windows 11 because one year will will be over before we even realize it
I want to make sure the old drivers work because windows updates break old drivers.
I could use my windows 10 pc but I want to upload stuff online that's why I want to be on windows 11 and this system is more advanced.

Windows 11 is pure crap. And it will continue to get worse and worse.

Windows 10 and then switch to Linux and have Windows 10 virtualized (to stay safe and with not risks even if not updated anymore).

Windows 11 is an abomination: AI crap, online shit, everything you have and do is not yours anymore.

still using win8.1 here with no problems. i'd be on win7 still if only some browser shit wouldn't run at all. i will never go to 10, 11 or the upcoming 12. linux works fine here also, i've been there before and may end up there again.

It looks like windows 10 with different menus
Linux is not capture friendly. I don't know if any capture card that has drivers for Linux not the popular cards apart from one
Hauppage that one does but doesn't come with Linux capture software.
    Wait for Windows 12 😂
