  1. I have some wmv files that I'm trying to convert to mpeg-4 avi. I've had success with some, while others have stopped at certain points in the movie (it's always the same point with the various settings I've tried). The log says it's skipping frames at that point and then stops.

I'll include the log data here. If anyone has any clues as to how to fix the file first, or what settings I should use in ffmpegx, I would really appreciate it.

    Thanks

  2. I wouldn't use ffmpegX to re-encode WMV videos. There's a VTC that explains how you can re-encode WMV videos and save them in AVI with PC freeware titles and Virtual PC here. When WMV files are in WMV3, chances that ffmpegX does the job are close to none. There are also a few Mac sharewhare titles that re-encode or transcode WMV vidoes.

    IIRC, iSquint might do it.

  4. Thanks for the links. I've had some luck using Flip4Mac to open in QuickTime and then export in mpeg-4. It's a bit cumbersome and not nearly as fast as ffmpegx, but so far it seems to work. By the way, I've had success converting quite a few WMVs to xvid with ffmpegx, using the configuration above, and they look great. Very fast conversion too. All the WMVs were created using the same settings with the same hardware but a few just seem to have glitches that make ffmpegx choke.

    Thanks again.
