Hello,
I recently started to digitalize our home videos. Next fase will be the VHS tapes.
I'm using an "EasyCAP" video grabber and i've connected it via tulip and an output scart (cable no longer than 2meters).
It connects and I'm getting image and sound but it's of very bad quality.
Attached are two image examples. The first when it's only connected.

The second you can see the poor image on playback:

I could not make a "printscreen". When trying the distortion lines and purple background disappeared...
I tried different tapes and already tried to fast forward and rewind the tape before recording.
Any suggestions or tips are welcome.
Try StreamFab Downloader and download from Netflix, Amazon, Youtube! Or Try DVDFab and copy Blu-rays! or rip iTunes movies!

At the least you have severe timing errors which are typical for analog transfer.
Do a forum search for TBC which explains this further.
Is this one of the 10 euro easycaps ? I am afraid thay are rubbish and this may actually enchance the errors. The official easycap is now called EzCap but there are other equally fine capture tools such as Hauppauge USB Live-2 -

Ok thanks for the replies. I'll go and try again with your suggestions.
Trying to keep the extra costs as low as possible, should I try TBC first or Another grabber? -
Take a look at lordsmurf's signature and there are links to his site that discuss TBC's.
Another approach, which could be cheaper since good TBCs are not cheap is pass-through from certain models of dvd-recorder. Again search the forum or someone may reply here but it has been discussed so many times.
Now some will claim they had 'excellent' results from an easycrap (delib mis-spelling) but you will probably find you do need to change that.
But if you just want these family tapes on dvd then you can always take a 'quick route' and transfer them straight to dvd with a dvd-recorder. The capture to PC is really only the first part of the process.
