    I run a internet radio called Phat Beats Radio Plays Rap R&B Soul Funk Reggae Chillhop Acid Jazz. I am using a program called Radioboss to run the stream for the station need help choosing what codec to stream at 96k. The program can do AAC AAC+ OGG and OPUS I am looking for a codec that will be = to 160k mp3 or better which codec do you recommend at 96k?? I am currently broadcasting at 160k AAC might be to high time to go with 96k.

    Hi,
    my personal favorite is OPUS, if Iam not wrong it is free and good. Therefore it is used by Discord for example. If iam not wrong. Free implementation of AAC aren't usually good as not "free"
    Therefore I think OPUS is good solution.
    But not audiophile not audio expert.

    If I go with Opus will most people be able to connect to the stream even mobile devices??

    it should be problem of application you are and your listeners using. So do not expecting problems.

    Even though Opus would be best and it's free, I don't think Apple supports Opus which is dumb. I personally know of a Rock/Indie Rock station online that uses HE-AAC (AAC +), which also works on devices that only support AAC-LC (AAC). Vorbis (OGG) would also be a fine option and have always liked Vorbis but you also run into support issues with it.
