  1. I'm trying to figure out how I can rip a video from youtube, but I want to rip the H.264 version, not the WebM version. Does anyone know?

download the video with videodownload helper
demux/extract audio with mp4box or any of its GUI'S
I love it when a plan comes together!

FWIW, YouTube gives you the option to NOT use those pesky WebM things:

    Code:
    http://www.youtube.com/html5

  5. Yeah, I'm already in the trial, but the video is still in vp8 and vorbis, do you know if videodownload helper re-encodes the rip from youtube?

  6. Sample DownloadHelper menu in FireFox:

Name:	dh.jpg
Views:	1351
Size:	32.2 KB
ID:	18882

The files are downloaded, not reencoded.

  7. K, I just wanted to make sure they were direct rips.

  8. K, I've got them, my concern was that a download site or plugin might re-encode the video, but I can see that that is not the case, thanks.

HTML5 supports WebM. Not sure how it excludes WebM.

It's YouTube database, it's not HTML5. That page does contain the option to accept or to refuse WebM. Maybe it shows no option at all for the Chrome users, I really don't know
