  1. i'm trying to toast (or even play...) a divx movie. (Mac OS 10.4.8)
it says the audio format is 'ms'
i searched and found some instructions to put the ac3 codec in /library/quicktime
    but that didn't work.

is there a codec just for that audio format i can install?

Borrow a pc and run gspot against the divx so you know for sure exactly which video and audio you have. There is some unplayable stuff still in OSX. There are many types of divx's.

I have ffusion and flip4mac components in that library as well. The QT player will handle almost any file that way. You can get flip4mac free here : http://www.flip4mac.com/wmv_download.htm

VLC and mplayer should be able to provide more information about the file (and play it, too; they don't use the QT architecture to play videos).
If cameras add ten pounds, why would people want to eat them?

  5. VLC can play it.
    video-xvid
    audio=a52

quicktime can display the video but no sound. Is there something i can use to play the audio? I quicktime can play the audio, it will burn properly in toast, right? that's mainly what i'm trying to do...

Get the A52Codec for QuickTime. That should solve it.

    Hey,

I'm new to mac and having the same problems with some avi's not having audio. I'm trying to burn to DVD using Toast Titanium 8.

I've downloaded the A52 Codec 1.7.2 as suggested and copied it to the appropriate folders but still no audio on Quicktime so I'm sure no audio when burned to DVD with Toast.

If anybody has any further suggestions (like is there an AC3 codec that I needed to download separately) please let me know.

    Thanks in advance,
    Steve

    Hi Ffooky,

Yes, I'm on an Intel Mac - brand new OSX 10.4.8 (if that makes any difference).

    Thanks,
    Steve

  11. Shot in the dark but check this Apple Discussions thread and see if Big Mike's solution does the trick.

edit: And you've restarted since installing the A52 component ?
