    I just wanted to ask if someone could tell me how to record your desktop on Vista.

    You can use the 'prt scn' key on your keyboard. Then open 'Paint' in the 'Start>Accessories' menu. Click 'Edit>Paste'. Save out in your preferred format.

    This works for most everything except video. With video, use a player that can grab a screenshot. VLC and many other players can do that. Process through 'Paint' same as before.

    There are also screen grab programs that are a bit better.

    I highly recommend FRAPS. It does not drop frames and
    the audio does not go out-of-sync even on my old and crappy Pentium IV.
