Logs are kept in the "logs" folder under where you installed the program.

ok.... Perhaps you can reinstall in a folder other than "Program Files" and when you run the program do "Run as Administrator..." on the VOB2MPG.exe file.... hopefully this way we will get a log.

Can you download and install SVCD2DVD and replace the the ffmpeg.exe file in the VOB2MPG folder with the one from SVCD2DVD? Lets first see if that resolves the issue before we try other things.

What happens if you execute the following at a command prompt:

    Code:
    C:\Users\dswofford\Desktop\V2M\ffmpeg -i "C:\VIDEO_TS\VTS_01_1.VOB" -y -target dvd -vcodec copy "C:\VIDEO_TS\VTS_01.mpg"
Do you actually get the error or is the mpeg produced?

ok. i am not in front of vista at the moment but... Can you right click on the ffmpeg.exe file and change the compatablity to XP? Then try the command line again.... If you can force the exe to also run as administrator - can you do that also?

I was having this issue when trying to use VOB2MPG for Daft Punk's DVD "Interstella 5555". In my case, VOB2MPG was installed to Program Files (x86) folder (as my computer is also Windows Vista 64-bit). My [partial] solution was to open Command Prompt in Administrator mode (right-click, Run as Administrator, allow to run as administrator) and then type that ffmpeg command above:
    Code:
    "C:\Program Files (x86)\BadgerIT\VOB2MPG\ffmpeg" -i "D:\VIDEO_TS\VTS_01_1.VOB" -y -target dvd -vcodec copy "D:\VIDEO_TS\VTS_01.mpg"
OK, ffmpeg no longer crashes, but now I am facing a new issue: ffmpeg only converts the first VOB to MPEG (does not take all VOBs and merge them into a single MPG). How do I solve this?[/code]

I think the error that dswofford1 had was due to the audio stream in the vobs.... In your case, can you reinstall in a folder off the C drive. C:\VOB2MPG for example?

    Re-installing VOB2MPG to a different folder doesn't help either.

But I figured out why VOB2MPG's FFMPEG crashes. It crashes whenever my VOBs contain DTS audio. It looks like FFMPEG can only handle AC3 and, to some extend, LPCM, although the end result with LPCM is noisy when played by DirectSound applications like Windows Media Player (unless I first extract the "noisy" audio with VirtualDub-MPEG2 as a WAV file, substitute the WAV file for the MPG's "crippled" PCM audio with MPEG Video Wizard, and export to new MPG with LPCM audio).

The VOBs I want to merge into a single MPG file are Daft Punk/Leiji Matsumoto's Interstella 5555 animated musical DVD. I ripped the 1hr:05min-long musical with DVDFab Platinum (removes both protections and region code) selecting only DTS audio and removing the French subpictures/subtitles. MPEG Video Wizard drops audio during VOB transitions (regardless of whether it's AC3 or DTS or LPCM), hence why I'm trying to use VOB2MPG, but now I see DTS makes FFMPEG crash.

Well it sounds like VOB2MPG PRO is what you need. I should have a beta to try sometime next week. I will PM you.
