    ok when i play any movie(avi format) it appears to play in fast forward and the sound is like that too so pretty much everything sounds like alvin and the chipmunks. i tried it in a friends cd drive and it worked fine.

    Try reinstalling the standard Windows video and audio codecs, you may have a hacked one which cuold be causing problems.
