    Make a srt subtitle for the video and mux it with mkvmerge.

    Sorry, it's not what I meant.

    I meant for media players etc. to pick up, or media center software such as Plex.

    You know how MP3 has ID3 tags? Like that but for MKV. Instead of Artist or Album, Description.
