    Hi everybody,

    I have Dazzle DVC 170 with s-video input 4 PIN mini-DIN
and s-video output from my digital receiver.

can I buy an s-video cable to connect my receiver to my capturing card for better picture quality rather than using the RCA cable ?

    Thanks

Yes, S-video has better quality than composite video, which is the term for what you call "RCA cable".

  3. This isn't always the case. My cable box has both s-video and composite output. But s-video seems to be created from the composite signal with a simple luma/chroma splitter. It has a lot of dot crawl artifacts. The capture card I was using, a Hauppauge PVR-250, has comb filter on the composite input (to remove dot crawl) but not on the s-video input. So composite capture was actually better than s-video.

    It's worth a try though.

  4. You need to have the option in the menu of your cablebox "ntsc/s-vhs" otherwise it's not good. It'll be like jagabo says.
Mine has this option i hope yours too
