I'm thinking of trying to get a hdtv capture card for the computer. I don't have a hdtv but I'd love to be able to capture clean over-the-air digital channels and convert them to dvd. I want to be able to watch new shows in 5.1 surround sound.

  10. I need a DVD recorder with built-in harddrive. It will replace my VCR for everyday recording (to harddrive) and to DVD for archival.

    A pair of pants?

I don't really get many christmas gifts, to many children in the family for adults to also get gifts.

Maybe some socks. My mom always gets me socks.

I'll top Canadateck's post: I want a paper shredder that won't choke on credit card bills come January.

Seriously probably a few DVDs that I still don't have and some pants. The pants I have that still fits me are getting a tad worn out.

Oh yeah a pair of woolen socks would be nice.

The greatest gift I would want this christmas is an end to war and famine. Failing that i'll make do with a Datavideo TBC.

I need a new and much bigger TV than I have.

I would like to go HDTV but I want a 32" Flat Screen Tube and I'm really only interested in SONY but damn SONY is SO expensive the 32" SDTV vs. the 32" HDTV is too much for my budget.

Also if I am going to spend THAT much money (on the 32" HDTV Tube) then I am in the price range of a cheap front projector which is SO temping.

So a new TV it is but exactly what kind I am unsure but probably a 4:3 Tube be it SDTV or HDTV ... and no 16x9 Tube here please ... I have too much stuff that is 4:3 and I hate seeing "black" on eithre side of a 4:3 image on a 16x9 screen and the whole "stretching it or cutting the top and bottom" trick to make it fit is even less desirable.

    Probably a 42" LCD TV...
I'm thinking of that Sharp "PAL optimised" one, with the native panel of 540 lines or a native 1080 one. But the second ones are sooooo expensive (for Greek salaries that is...) and that sharp look sooooo gooooddddd!!!!!

    This hobby became pricey....

I wouldn't mind getting into HDTV receivers.
    If in doubt, Google it.

I either want an Ipog video 30 gig (black) or a 320 gig + external harddrive .

My dad would probably want to get a 42" hdtv plasma tv (maybe I should get him to go for a LCD?) but he won't get it in the near future, that is unless he wins the lottery *scrolls up to the other "if I win the lottery" post*
