    ARPANET pioneer Jack Haverty says the internet was never finished.

    When he retired with stuff left on his to-do list, he expected fixes would flow. They haven't.

    1) because it's on-topic
    2) because the guy is himself, not a Mr. Joe Average;
    3) perhaps because the Internet was NOT designed to be the mess that it became
    (two-point-zer0 "interactiveness", tons of ad-pushing JavaScript, smartphone-"friendliness", memory-hungry infinite-scrolling, the blog-look everywhere,
    «something went wrong, try reloading», etc Etc ETC).

    Something went wrong all right - greed, laziness, lust, animosity/hatred. The usual.

    But some things are MUCH better, too. I remember "Internet www 1.0", and even earlier, since I was there when NSCA rolled out the Mosaic browser. Prior to that - anybody remember Gopher? Archie? Ugghh!

    all those just sounds like 1990 whining , why i cant get the product at my hand kinda thing. stop whining, and maybe , search a bit, then maybe you will find ways to get around all those stuff youre being just salty about. things evolve , and sometimes overcomplicate. Get used to it.

    Everything is about profit and business now, so your factual statements will be taken with salt by everyone about what the original guy wanted, and that isnt gonna change anything.

    I liked Archie, Veronica, and Jughead. I was sad to see those go.

    I didn't have Internet at home prior to 1995. I was using Netscape Navigator as my browser. At work in the early 1990s, I didn't have access to the Internet except to use TCP/IP to send files to a customer in Hawaii. All of this via a dial-up modem. I think I used Lycos as my search engine.
