When ffmpeg encounters a decoding error, it prints a message with a large hex number. How do you relate the number to something meaningful, like a percentage of the file? (Because if the error is near the very end, I probably don't care).

That's the memory address of the {error position}, and is useful during debug. All the errors messages are printed afterwards.
