    how would I convert video files to vcd format so that i can burn them.

    get Toast 5 and drop the movies on it. it will convert and burn.

    so toast 5 will convert any type of movie to vcd format?

    yes all quicktime movies including divx can be converted, only MPG2 or not compliant MPG1 can't be converted with Toast
