  1. Hello, dear all.

Just for curiosity: why subtitles from DVD / Blu-ray discs sometimes does not match with Netflix ( or similar sites ) subtitles?

    One moderator here ( johns0 ) told:

Subtitles from netflix won't match your dvd/blu-ray rip since they are usually different length.

Does things always happens? Or just in some cases?

I such situations how we can synchronize them? Example: subtitle from Netflix to one dvd that I own. Is that possible?

The only way I figure out to do it is synchronize line by line, deleting or adding content when necessary. Too much work! And timing consuming.

See below some links that talk about subtitles from web. Does it possible to synchronize them with dvd / blu-ray content?

  2. Why would subs from different releases match? Releases in different countries have different studio/distributor logos at the start. They may have different frame rates. Netflix doesn't rip DVDs or Blu-ray discs. They may be different cuts of the movie (scenes added or removed). Subtitle editors have stretch and cut/insert filters that make it much easier than adjusting each sub by hand. If you want matching subs without any hassle buy the DVD or Blu-ray.

Do you point some of program that can do such job? AHD Subtitles Maker is a nice option to do it?

    buy the DVD or Blu-ray

I do, but sometimes dvd / blu-ray does not have any subtitle inside. And sometimes the "same" movies from Netflix or similar sites have subtitles.

But, as you point before: they may be different cuts of the movie, have different frame rates, etc.

It will be nice if I could synchronize such subtitles with my own dvd / blu-ray discs.

    Thanks for your time!

    Best regards.

Also a good subtitle editor is SubtitleEdit. It has a great visual sync function.
