  1. Can any internal DVD-R burner be used to replace a defective burner in a Duplicator Tower? Or are the dvd burners dedicated to the tower's software/hardware ? Thank you to anyone who can help and ideally, has done it. I currently , have pioneer burners in a 3 year old tower.

In the old days, Plextor was the recommended. Then Pioneer. Since they stopped making drives, it is much more hit-and-miss. Try a few different kinds and see what is reliable to you.
I would STRONGLY recommend you get all the same brand & model when populating your tower - for consistency-sake, do not mix and match your drives if you can help it.
