I lost my Fox channel in Detroit (channel 2).
I try to add it back as a digital channel 2-1, then it asks for the frequency.
Any ideas on what it wants ?

    Bingo!
The 'frequency' for 2-1 is just "7".
The same applies for channel 2-2, 2-3, 2-4 etc: 7 is the frequency for all of them and they automatically get shown in theguide.
Thank you for your reply and the link.

Regarding the thread title, aren't you asking about Windows Media Center instead of Windows Media Player? Windows Meda Center supports tuning DTV channels with a PC TV tuner device but, as far as I know, Windows Media Player doesn't.

It is not a frequency, it's just a display designation because people remember the channel numbers not the frequencies in MHz.

Well, Windows Media Center calls it "frequency" and "frequency number" on the same screen, the latter being close enough. For reference, here are VHF and UHF frequency bands allotted for OTA TV in North America. PSIP allows to map physical frequency channel into a virtual channel; it is often used to keep channel branding, like "ABC 10" can continue having virtual channel 10 but can be broadcast on a different frequency channel. Looks like Windows Media Center wants a physical channel number.

It was just a quick fact, I didn't want to be a lecture and links that no one wants to read.

I shared information about frequency ranges and virtual channel substitution, which someone may find interesting and/or useful. Clearly, not you.
