Using below command to capture Video8 from firewire camcorder. Video capture is good up to ~4 GB (~20 min) then just a random bunch of pixels on Fedora 27 with EXT4 formatted HDD. What is causing 4 GB boundary? Believe EXT4 has 48-bit addressing so it shouldn't be the drive format.

    dvgrab -autosplit -timesys -size 0 -f dv2 Tape1

Not really familiar with Linux or dvgrab, but have you tried it without the autosplit option? https://help.ubuntu.com/community/FireWire/dvgrab

But others here may have better advice.

I'll remove the autosplit option but suspect the same wrong behavior after 4 GB because I'm getting one big file (11+ GB) for 90+ mins of video. The first 4 GB captured fine but the remaining single file didn't capture properly because it is just a bunch of pixels and no audio.

You need to use the -opendml option with dv2 format.

    Anything else to try?

Used the following command and same problem at 4 GB (19 mins & 12 secs) into 25 GB file (~1:50:00).

    dvgrab -timesys -size 0 -opendml -f dv2 Tape1

It's an older cpu but appears capable.

    model name : AMD Phenom(tm) II X6 1075T Processor
    cpu cores : 6
address sizes : 48 bits physical, 48 bits virtual
