Using Vegas 4.0 to capture via a firewire, I've just tried capturing a BetaSP video source, passed through my Sony DCR-TRV38. Using this procedure I've noticed no drop frames, however the audio captured was only 32000 Khz/16 bit stereo. I've scoured the Sony handycam manual and there is no way I can see to change this sample rate to 16bit stereo, 48000 Khz.

Does anyone have any suggestions on how I can even capture at 48000Khz/16bit stereo?

Somewhere in the camcorder menu you should find an audio option to set either 12 bit or 16 bit PCM. Set it to 16 bit and try again.

Richard, thanks so much. I found it and it captures at 16bit/48000Khz.

    Very relieved and happy,
