    Hey guys,

I am trying to upscale a DVD9 to a 720p movie. When I upscale the resolution in my AVS script, I see a lot of noise and stretching. Probably the usual filters won't help much. So what filters and what add-ons do I need to upscale the movie properly? Is there a proper guide available on upscaling?

    Thanks!

The standard response is don't bother. The hardware will do a far superior job to your software attempts, and doesn't require the extra bitrate and re-encoding required by a home grown attempt.

That said, I do not know of any filters for Avisynth specifically for upscaling. There are dedicated tools, such as Video Enhancer and Magic Bullet HD that use super-resolution algorithms for upscaling.

Unless you have a very specific need to upscale SD to HD resolutions (for editing, for example) though, you are generally better off letting the hardware do all the work.

Not worth the trouble. It won't look good enough.
