how would I go about employing student videographers in selected cities...especially europe and canada?
is there some huge website where they hang?
would save me a ton if I could employ them on the cheap

Google for local video production schools. They may refer students or graduates.

Yes, they are cheap. But 9 out of 10 of them can't shoot worth squat -- despite their schooling. Ask for a demo reel of their work, if you can.

    I speak from vast experience.

Craigslist in USA. Contact local schools, too.

I see Craigslist is International now...I think this is my best option
This way, I can casually request interested parties and if they don't respond, no biggie.
Who wants to write to students all day?
I believe flimboss when he says they blow...

    Thanks all

Search the stock footage sites. Also consider wedding videographers if the event is not on a weekend. Many of them are looking for non-wedding projects to add to their portfolios -- and sometimes they will do the job cheap. Most have more experience (and better equipment) than students.

With the global economy as it is, experienced freelance videographers may not be as expensive as you may expect.

they're PAL so tapes won't play in my NTSC cam
