Beforre my laptop broke down, I used to use Virtualdub2 to make my lossless videos into .mp4. I am still trying to scrounge up some money to fix it as well as use my library's computers to upscale my videos. I still want to do at my home but Virtualdub2 will not work with XP nor upscale with the x264 codec. I am going to have to use the regular Virtualdub but In have no idea how to add codecs like that to the program. Does anyone know how to add the codecs in Virtualdub?

For 8-bit output only, x264vfw should work.
I installed this one, compatible with XP

H.264 video in AVI is generally not recommended; the config tools offers a "virtualdub hack"

I don't know if you'll find a 10 bit solution that will work in XP

That is very similar to 8 bit right?

  4. It's 2 bits less.

  5. You can try AviDemux. Less plugins but may suit your needs.
