What is currently the best value Ryzen CPU? I am thinking about either the RYZEN 3 2200G or the RYZEN 5 2400G. What do you think?

If you shop around you can find the 1700X for as little as $130; I would still wait to see what Zen 2 has to offer though.

Seems like the 1700x is just a 1700 which has been factory overclocked. AMD might also be putting the better chips in the 1700x with the less lucky chips binned to the 1700. The 1700 can be overclocked, like the 1700x, but it might not be as much of an overclocker as a binned 1700x.

3x to 4x performance for 2x the cost is a better value. And when you consider the price of a full system the extra cost for the 1700(X) is a much smaller percentage.
Of course, you'll need to factor in the cost of a graphics card for 1700(X).
Or maybe you meant -- what is the best (value CPU), not (best value) CPU.Last edited by jagabo; 12th Jan 2019 at 09:35.

I've been running my Ryzen X1700 for about a year and a half with no problems. It's fast enough for me without any OC.

Is the RYZEN 5 2400G the best choice if I need integrated graphics? It's not much faster than my existing CPU.

I read that a Raven Ridge CPU only supports Microsoft Windows 10. Does this mean that if I want to use Windows 7 I must use a Summit Ridge or a Pinnacle Ridge CPU?
-
You might be able to get around the Win10 limitation:

Is Ryzen 1700 still recommended? Which motherboard would you choose for it?
-
Ryzen 7 1700x is the best value,i chose asus b370 mb because the asrock mb i bought previously won't post but asus has always posted for me.
I think,therefore i am a hamster. -

Ryzen 1700X is officially called Ryzen 7 1700x,there are still some at newegg but you can also use the b450/470 mb for the ryzen 1700x.If you want to spend a bit more money you can get the 2600/2700 ryzen.

I can get the 2600 for the same price as the 1700 and the 2600X for the same price as the 1700X. Which would be the best? 2600 or 1700? 2600X or 1700X?
-
They are roughly the same in comparison, the 2600x is slightly better than the 1700x in some benchmarks and the 1700x better in others.

In well threaded benchmarks, the 1700/1700X will be faster than the 2600/2600X, in lightly threaded benchmarks the situation will be reversed:

In all honesty, they are so close together you will not notice the difference in practice unless you are either primarily concerned with benchmarks or were going to render a really really long project that would take hours or you were compiling a huge project, like compiling a Linux distro from source that could take days and then the difference would be pronounced. -
Does it makes sense to choose a B450 or X470 motherboard with the 1700/1700X or should I look for a B350 or X370?
-
Choose a b450 if you don't overclock or a x470 if you do overclock, the main difference between the 350/370 450/470 is the storemi and little faster ram speed.
