  1. Hello everyone. I am facing a problem with super audio CD. I put this superaudio CD into my car CD player but the player does not play at all. Same thingto my PC. In the same time I was trying to explore this CD browsing the DVD rom, but no result. Any help or chance to get a solution? Thanks in advance...

    You need a "super audio CD" player. Expect to spend $$ maybe less on eBay.

    It is an SACD, not a DVD-ROM.

    There has NEVER been an optical drive for the PC that would read an SACD.

    And as edDV alluded to, you need a SACD player to play it, unless you have a hybrid SACD, where one layer is a standard audio cd and the second layer is an SACD, you will never be able to play it on anything other than a player that will play SACD.

    And if it has a standard audio cd layer, you will only be able to hear or play or rip the standard audio cd portion on a PC.

    @Noahtuck,
    I'm guessing the OP just had a typo, as the "C" in "PC" is right next to the "V". (you may want to lighten up)

    If that's what was meant, then yes, what Noahtuck said is correct.

    BY DESIGN, No SACD-compatible drives (reader or burner) and no licensed software is made for computers (or probably ever will be).

    In fact, even those audio studios that PRODUCE SACDs don't get to burn them - they have to send their authored DDP disc images to a pressing (replication) plant, where the PSP/encryption gets added.

    ***Note: there is a minor hole in this virtually insurmountable copy protection. If you've got an older model PS3 that is SACD-compatible, AND you still are using <v3.55 firmware, there is a hack that can allow you to rip the SACD layer to an un-encrypted ISO. From there, you'd need to transfer to a PC and use some DSDIFF-decoding software...

    *************************************

    Assuming your SACD is a hybrid (SACD layer + CD Audio layer), you should be able to rip the CD portion with a standard reader & CD ripping software. But it won't be any better quality than your normal CD (IOW, no multichannel). If your reader can't "see" the CD layer, either your reader's firmware needs to be updated or your ripping software isn't set up to check for CD layers first (probably set for DVD layers first).

    edit: Doh! I am too slow of a typist again!

    True but Oppo admits it. I'm not sure that Sony does.

    I don't think they work in a car.

    On second thought the OP could get a 110v power invertor and use the analog out to the AUX on the head unit. Sure it's bulky but you can also get a huge monitor and have a CT(Car Theater).

    Simply put a DVD on top of the LaserDisc and draw an outline(use a ballpoint pen), use a jigsaw to cut out the LaserDisc mini*. Use a file to smooth out any burrs. The LaserDisc mini* will also work on a LP turntable if you use a 45 adapter.

    *patent pending
