I have a problem when I want to convert an .avi file

I pass the log. It happens with all .avi files that I tried to convert with version 2.0.0.0

Hello, first off , brilliant gui for encoding movies and especially in a batch manner, so its perfect for TV series.
I downloaded TV series in x265 but could not play them on my TV so i had to encode them to x264 , so i encoded 3 of them in batch made a cup of tea and then it was done.
However i have an issue with a few movies i downloaded.
They are all in X265 and they all play fine, video and audio streams.
When i try to encode them to X264 , the video seems to be fine, but the audio is an issue so the encoding process crashes immediately with a very vague ffmpeg error.
I have isolated the error a little bit by trying to mux the audio as is, after the video is done, and it works.
My TV however, doesnt like the audio in the file, so i would normally AAC the audio or MP3.
I have tried to extracted the audio stream using mkvtoolnix-gui.exe manually and its fine.
I can then mux the video with the audio, and done.
It defeats the point of making use of StaxRip which can do this automatically and also for batch purpose.
How can i help the developer help me here with the error i am getting?

How can i help the developer help me here with the error i am getting?

Post the complete StaxRip log and upload a sample of the source file.

Just to make mention , that i have several movies like this which have the same audio inside and they all have the same error.
I have tried StaxRip 2 and earlier versions, same thing.
Some how the audio is being extracted and it says 0 channels and then when ffmpeg runs it fails.

Strange thing is when i use MKVToolNix GUI v28.2.0 and manually extract/demux the AAC stream , 500 odd megs big, it plays fine in windows media player classic home cinema, and mediainfo shows 8 channels.

It is crazy, so are we saying that on the commend line, some how, it is not demuxing properly?

MKVToolNix GUI does not have a demuxing component. It muxes to mkv using mkvmerge.exe. In your workflow StaxRip uses mkvextract.exe to extract the AAC audio to ADTS AAC format (i.e. not mkv).

So perhaps a new mkvextract tool can be investigated or a change to StaxRip to rather use ffmpeg.
I would love to re-encode my movies but i am not in the mood to manually do them .
This is why i use StaxRip it is pretty decent for automation.

I dont know of any other tools that provide AMD GPU support.

I have a mining rig that has 13x1080 Ti, and I need to convert my entire video library into HEVC, so I'm going to use this rig for such a purpose.
How do I specify the GPU that is going to be used for the conversion?

Hi, I'm having an issue with VapourSynth and StaxRip. Whenever I use VapourSynth, any video files I put into Staxrip would cause it to crash after demuxing. There are no error logs or any errors that popup. Staxrip just closes. I have tried reinstalling Python, VapourSynth and used different versions of Staxrip but same result. Whenever error handling fails it's a very difficult situation. I would guess it's not a staxrip problem but VapourSynth is not working in general.

Why not to create a script to find out if something is going bad in Vapoursynth and read that error on screen. Choose your source_path in the script below. Or you can change source plugin if using different.

staxrip does manual plugin loading and it's based on the ancient vfw/avifile api like virtualdub2 so I recommend trying to open the vpy file generated by staxrip to open with virtualdub2.

In the past there were severe issues that would only take done managed apps and not native apps but I hope this is not a severe issue.

yes, he has vapoursynth and python installed
if not having that ffms2 source plugin in Vapoursynth pluging directory , he can use staxrip's DLL

Hi everybody.
I have just tried to encode with staxrip on my new notebook and it looks like staxrip/nvenc cannot detect my graphic card correctly.

HW encoding with integrated vega 10 works fine, NVEnc on another program (Handbrake) works with 1660ti too..

Tried latest version of staxrip, then latest version of NVEnc but no luck...

Done it and answer was that its not a nvenc bug.
After last reinstalation of nvidia drivers (for game ready from last month) nvenc 4.3 with latest staxrip starts working...

btw. on 1070ti with i7 5th generation i get around 7-12% GPU usage and less then 25% VE (with 2 task simultaneously) while on ryzen 3750h with 1660ti i get 100% VE all the time (wit 1 task or 2 tasks). What exactly is VE..%?
Conversion speed loks +- same.

I just wanted to say thanks for putting this tool together! It's an awesome way to help people have access to the incredible power of AviSynth tools without having to start from ground 0.

I needed to deinterlace a video using QTGMC so I started down the rabbit hole of downloading programs, plugins, dependencies...etc. and then found StaxRip and it made it MUCH easier...now I can focus on figuring out the actual parameters I want to use with the filters, instead of spending hours just trying to get all the right files, figure out how to make them all work together, and then figure out how to write a script from nothing .

The filter queue and the ability to go in there and manually edit the parameters is perfect as well as the ability to save to lossy or lossless formats without having to add more plugins/filters/etc. THANK YOU!!!
