    For soft-subbing (subtitles can be turned on and off in player, but not all players may support them): MKVToolNix
    For hard-subbing (video is re-encoded with subtitles overlayed, cannot be turned off or removed anymore afterwards): first MKVToolNix, then HandBrake (select subtitle in "subtitle" tab, tick "burn-in")
