    hey,
the ffmpegX components self-installer keeps giving me this message:

WARNING: Improper use of the sudo command could lead to data loss
or the deletion of important system files. Please double-check your
typing when using sudo. Type "man sudo" for more information.

To proceed, enter your password, or type Ctrl-C to abort.

I've tried everything the site tells me to, and still no luck. also, when trying to download the link mpeg2enc directly from the link by using the ctrl click, i do not have the option on the menu that pops up. the mencoder and mplayer didnt give me any problems though. any ideas?

Does your admin account have a password? It should; the installer will use the "sudo" command in the background, which needs a non-blank password.
Does your password have special characters in it? The installer doesn't like that either. If so, try changing the password (in System Preferences > System > Accounts) to something 'simple', with only letters and/or numbers.

As for downloading mpeg2enc: control-clicking a link should give you a contextual menu with an option to download whatever is behind that link. 'Download Linked File' in Safari, or 'Save Link As' in Firefox.
