    what format should videos be in so that both video and AUDIO play on my PS3

    With the 1.82 update you can play H.264 and MPEG4, but of course you can always use MPEG2. I think WMA audio is supported (for some reason) but mostly AAC, MP3, and any audio streams you'd find on DVD or BRD.

    The files play great in standard MPEG2 format but still no audio, but the PS3 doesnt recognise the MP4 files of my PSP, so i still have no audio from videos streamed fom my PC

    After a little thought i have found it is ripped NTSC or region 1 files that has the audio problem, i have just ripped a region 2 pal video clip, and it plays fine both video and audio. I am in UK so my standard region is region to, can any one suggest any help

    tried it mate, still the same, could the problem be RCE coding, i have dvd decrypted them but still cant get the audio!!!!

    Use Goldwave to get a wav file and then remux.

    Sorry mate, but im a real noob when the word demux is mention'd, i presume you mean rip an audio track off, then join it onto the MPEG file. i can rip the audio using DVD AUDIO RIPPER, but what program do i use to put the two together.................sorry to be such a noob mate

    And this topic probably belongs in one of the video forums where you can get more answers on the encoding issues. Have a mod move the thread for you. Some of the folks over there are much better at explaining transcoding than I am. I tend to get a bit wordy

    If you have the DVD decrypted, make one large VOB file by re-ripping the VIDEO_TS folder with smartripper (making sure not to file split) and import the large VOB directly into Red Kawa.
