Question about BDrebuilder

Hey all a couple of users from another thread of mine recommended bdrebuilder to use and I gave it a try and its a great program. Im putting mp4s directly onto bd-r without encoding, The burns come out great just have a little issue. When I put one mp4 on a disc it loads up fine on my ps3 and ps4. But when I put multiple mp4s on disc it makes a generic quick menu and when I try to play that on my ps3 or ps4 it doesn't load. It just gets stuck on a black screen. I tried the disc in my stand alone blu ray player and it works fine. I thought that was kind of weird so why could that be? When i just repack the mp4 using bdrebuilder to make the file structure and not encode is it making a blu ray disc that will work in most or all blu ray players?

Have you tried click on next/forward/play on the ps3/ps4 "remote control"? Nothing happens?

Can you disable the menu in bdrebuilder? THen try that.

You could also try bdtoavchd and/or rebox.net and see if you can remux several mp4s to blu-ray without reconverting.

Yeah I tired all that it just stays on the black screen when it has the menu on ps3/4. Now when theres only one video on a blu ray without menu it works fine in the ps3/4 very weird.

I have no idea if theres a way to disable the menu.

Ill just stick with bdrebuilder cause its so easy to use. I just have one question. When I play the disc with multiple videos and the menu in my stand alone blu ray player it works perfect. When putting a mp4 on blu ray using bdrebuilder what does it actually do? I know it doesn't re encode but does it just make the blu ray file structure so the players read it. Are they fully compatible and compliant blu rays that will work in most players?

Most MP4's floating about on the net are nowhere near compliant to Blu-ray specifications. If you are making your own, you can encode to Blu-ray specs easily enough.

But in my experience, BD Rebuilder will re-encode MP4 files to be compliant when making a compilation Blu-ray. Have you watched it in action? It starts by re-encoding AAC normally seen in MP4 to AC3. Then it makes a psudeo Blu-ray structure so it can import the video. Then it starts re-encoding the video streams. If it was just repackaging the video into a Blu-ray, the way you might do with tsMuxeR, it would take only a couple of minutes to do this process.

720p at 29.97fps is not strictly compliant to Blu-ray specs. There could be any number of other things that aren't compliant also.

Yeah that's what I thought. By the log though the video doesn't re encode does it? Also if it doesn't how does my player read it as a blu Ray disc Would tsmuxer be a better option? I'm kinda lost here lol.

You only provided a small bit of the log. It converts the audio and makes a psuedo Blu-ray structure for each individual entry, then proceeds with re-encoding the video streams. Then it re-muxes and builds the Blu-ray output.

As I said, just putting it into another container format would take very little time. If BD Rebuilder is taking an hour or more for 3 or 4 videos, then it is re-encoding. I just made one with four MP4 files as input. Original size of the input files was 1.2gb. Output was 5gb and it took more than an hour to process. So yes, the program will re-encode if necessary.

BD Rebuilder makes use of tsMuxeR to make Blu-ray structure. But tsMuxeR by itself will not discriminate on what is compliant and what is not. It will put virtually anything into a Blu-ray, but that doesn't mean that it will play in a stand alone player. And tsMuxeR will not make menus.

What I think it does is just tells it to resize the picture. Because in the pseudo folder theres a file called pinfo and in that file has the following

That still doesn't look like the full log. BD Rebuilder isn't resizing however, you've still got 720p video with 29.97 frame rate.

Oh ok I think I know what im doing wrong. After the import is finished im not clicking the back up button. But why have it do all that? After the import is done it burns successful on disk and plays in my blu ray player.

But its not working in all your players. Your PS3 and PS4 don't like the preliminary output and frankly, I'm surprised it works anywhere. Try making a complete backup and test in those players. It is far more likely to be compliant to Blu-ray requirements.
